Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

A whimsical feast awaits the beholder of this film, as magical creatures collide with the  back story of one of the wizarding worlds most beloved characters: Dumbledore.

A young professor Dumbledore, played by Jude Law, must face the catastrophe caused by the decisions of his formative years as he attempts to take down what once was an friend, but now a vengeful enemy.

The enemy in question, Gellert Grindlewald, once played by the now disgraced Johnny Depp in the franchises previous films, has now been reassigned to the equally talented Mads Mikkelsen, who quite frankly non other than absolutely nails the position of evil wizard with such ease, it’s hard to notice the recasting at all.

In terms of special effects, the budget must have been absolutely smashed, because every inch of the film has a magical element to it, from eccentric wand duels to the intricate details carved into the numerous beasts that grace the screen.

Though this film certainly doesn’t have the same extensive plot as was to expected from the original Harry Potter films, there is still enough of a storyline to carry the film into a limelight of its own, with the added pleasure of not having a novel to compare it to.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

What a magnificent way to return to J.K.Rowlings fantastical Wizarding World.

Set in an age way before even Harry Potter himself was brought into existence, wizard explorer, Newt Scamander, finds himself on a whirlwind tour of New York City as he attempts to recapture the magical beasts that have escaped from his briefcase. Along with the help of a Magical Congress (the American version of the Ministry of Magic) employee and a nomaj (Americas version of a muggle) Newt manages to capture and return the magical beasts before they wreak too much havoc on New York City.

Mr. Scamanders beasts are not the only beings causing uproar throughout the Wizarding community however, as it is soon discovered that more sinister forces are at work.

With a franchise as big as the Harry Potter one, it is unsurprising that many fans are likely to feel a little nervous heading into the cinema for a revival of the world they have so longed for. However, there is no need for any qualms in regard to this, as much of the original production team from the Harry Potter films are responsible for what will be the inevitable success of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

With director David Yates heading up the team and David Hayman and J.K. Rowling producing, the overall outcome is quite frankly nothing but magical.

Though many of the old faces remain, this cast of course is very new indeed. But, again, with Eddie Redmayne taking on the lead role as Newt, it’s safe to say that even the casting crew did a spectacular job.

What makes this film so welcoming to Potter fans is its familiarly which can be seen throughout, from the soundtrack to the spells and special effects, the audience is constantly being reminded that this is just the same Wizarding World as always, just a little older.
